Anti-virus and security software: Have you had your website hacked and taken over? Have you heard of 'code injection' viruses? Are you willing to let a random person on the internet destroy your website?

Topic: Ease of navigation

Organization: The last thing you want to do, is begin researching a topic and not have a reference to where you are. Like a book has page numbers, a website should have a navigational breadcrumb trail. This navigational 'trail' is usually close to the top of the website and it allows you to both see where you are in the site and back track to another page, without getting lost. This will prevent frustration and allow information flow without overload.

A key to any media project should be excellent navigation plan.

Topic: Page redirect

Redirect: Have you ever gone to one of your favorite website pages and you get an error page. It has been eliminated.

PTI uses special code to re-direct your older website pages to the new pages. When programmers name new website pages, the older pages still need to have a re-direct command. This allows for satisfied website viewer, who has returned to access your site after your updates without seeing an error page.

Knowing the proper structure before designing this element of your media project is critical for success. See our process page for the proper steps in your next media project layout.

Topic: Cache

Computer performance: To clear your cache or not, this is the question. If we are talking 'cash', then a balance of spending and savings is good. Yet this is cache, the computer's way to store information from your internet browsing.

Taking time to learn how to periodically clear your computer's stored internet cache files is good to know. It will help restore your system to better operating functions. It is still recommended to do system tool operations, such as defrag and scan disc as well.

Topic: Power Management

Power failure: Batteries have improved over the years, yet so has the demands placed on your computer.

Each software running takes a bit more power. ...you are working, and your power goes out. Do you have a power surge protection unit that will protect your computer from an electrical surge? Also, do you have a battery backup system to keep your systems operational until power is restored. These are good reminders, to prepare you for the unexpected, so there's no need to be concerned over lost equipment or data.

Topic: Scheduled backup plan

Archive your files: Just a short, but critical tech note. If you are not archiving all your files on a scheduled plan, then think about this soon. It is proved that companies have lost thousand of files, and many hours of work, due to a system virus, or a computer failure. Store your files somewhere besides your computer hard drive.

PTI has online storage options.
